A Shropshire insurance broker is celebrating after being presented with the prestigious industry award of ‘young achiever of the year.’
Daniel Butler, of Beaumont Lawrence, based in Shrewsbury, scooped the award at the annual gala dinner of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of Shropshire and Mid-Wales at the Albrighton Hall Hotel.
The 34-year-old is an active member of the local CII and has worked at Beaumont Lawrence, the only company in Shropshire to have been awarded the prestigious Chartered Insurance Brokers title, for over two years as an account handler.
He said: “I was honoured to be recognised at the dinner with this award. I am proud to work as hard as I can both for Beaumont Lawrence and the CII of Shropshire and Mid Wales.”
Daniel, who has an Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII), meaning he is an associate of the CII, added: “I am looking forward to continuing to expand my knowledge in the insurance world and act as a role model for young brokers starting out in their careers.”
More than 100 people from the insurance world across Shropshire and Mid-Wales attended the gala dinner.
The audience heard how Mr Butler has risen up the council ranks to take on the role of education secretary.
President Andrew Lear said: “Dan has embraced all the challenges thrown at him on the council. He is now very much a pillar of the Institute Council where the twice yearly exams are organised by Dan and he does that without any hassle because he does it so well.
“He organises our monthly lunch-time lectures, finding a speaker and making sure everything is in place. His development since he joined the council has been one of the highlights for me as deputy and then president this year.
“He is our success story and he does such a good job with everything that you just know everything he does will get done well.”
Ben Lawrence, managing director of Beaumont Lawrence, which works with businesses across Shropshire and beyond, said he was very proud of Mr Butler’s success.
He said: “Dan joined us two years ago and this award is fully deserved. He is a very diligent, hard-working young man and we are very proud to work with him. We hope he will have a long and prosperous career with us.”
