What does a press officer do?

  • A press officer represents the organisation hosting or running the event and is the main contact for the media. There are a wide range of responsibilities from writing press releases and liaising with the media to arranging press conferences and interviews and looking after media coverage.

Why do I need one at my event?

  • Having a press officer present on the day of your event will take away the stress of organisers dealing with the media and leave the team to make sure the day runs smoothly.

What will J&PR do for me?

  • We are on hand to promote your event in every possible way. We will plan, launch and run campaigns before the big day and we will be there at the event to make sure everything runs smoothly.
  • From the minute your event idea is formed, we will work with you from the initial press release announcement, revealing each act or exhibit, to interviews with organisers in print, radio and television, to running social media campaigns and blogs.

What happens on the day of my event?

  • It is a good idea to provide a press area for the media to allow them to access their computers and equipment on site. Journalists often need to send their stories direct from the event and photographers need to send their images quickly for same-day coverage.
  • J&PR will be in charge of the press area and provide comments from organisers to boost coverage.
  • We will make sure the media has everything they need.

What if something goes wrong?

  • J&PR will help you put in place a crisis management plan before the event so you are well prepared.
  • Without a plan, or a press officer in attendance, mild incidents such as a visitor fall or a locked entrance, can be blown out of proportion by media coverage.
