As well as letting you know what’s happening at J&PR, we love to share what's happening in and around the beautiful county of Shropshire as well - and Shrewsbury has plenty going on this winter!
Return to Theatre Severn…
Pay a visit to the beloved Theatre Severn over the next few weeks. We promise, there’s something for everyone!
Go down the rabbit hole…
The theatre is welcoming Cahoots Theatre Company from February 6th to the 8th as it presents the UK tour of William Humble’s Wodehouse in Wonderland.
The storyline? Well, we wouldn’t want to give it all away but here’s what to expect!
P.G. Wodehouse, a talented author, is trying to write his latest novel - with great difficulty thanks to his nearest and dearest who have other ideas!
Expect to hear songs composed by Broadway legends and be transported to New York’s 1950s. Based on the life and writings of Wodehouse himself, and with the support of his estate, we’re sure this isn’t one to miss!
Or do the Monster Mash…
A firm favourite, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, is taking over Theatre Severn from March 6th to the 11th.
The performance will be packed with fun and naughty jokes - what more can you expect?!
Join in with Charles Darwin’s birthday celebrations
Celebrate the return of the DarwIN festival, and the life of a Shropshire-born legend, in Shrewsbury from February 5th to the 12th (Darwin’s actual birthday).
Expect inspiring and informative tours, brain-boggling lectures, and a toast to the man himself - there will be Darwin-themed fun for everyone!
What about family days out?
Head to the Buttermarket - yes, really!
The Buttermarket is the venue for THE family-friendly party this January, with tickets still available for the Big Fish Little Fish family rave!
There will be crafts, confetti cannons, bubbles, balloons and more!
Quiet spaces with tunnels, tents and mats will also be available for those who prefer a calmer party.
Find more information here.
Horsing around…
A local, family run business is inviting children to own a pony for a day!
Over the half term, English Oak Equestrian is opening its stable doors to teach children how to care for ponies by grooming them, tacking up and much more!
Are we too old to join in?!
Touring our local areas!
We love going away and exploring new spots, but there’s nothing better than being a tourist in the place you call home!
Farmer’s markets…
Shrewsbury is continuing to host its regular Farmer’s Market on the first Friday of every month. Support local businesses at the square while indulging in a range of Shropshire’s finest food and drinks - you may find a new favourite!
Visit the famous Flaxmill
Shrewsbury’s Flaxmill Maltings is opening its doors again and inviting people in to tour around the historic building. You can view an exhibition and see the work that has gone into renovating the building - plus the plans of what’s still yet to come!
True crime fan?
You’ll want to know about this one…
Professor Colin Jackson, who has contributed to over 50 documentaries about violent crimes and murder, is making his way to the Buttermarket in February to do some true crime mythbusting!
So, which will you be choosing?
With so much on in and around Shrewsbury this winter, we’d love to know what you’ll be getting involved with!
