The great British weather is playing its usual tricks again – rain, thunderstorms, sunshine and everything else in between.
But families who own a touring caravan or hire their own accommodation in the UK pretty much take it on the chin and as long as the wellies and waterproofs are packed it really makes no difference to the fun which can be had.
This year has already seen the Smallman family enjoy Haven’s Kiln Park in Tenby.
Our youngest son celebrated his 5th birthday with breakfast with Bradley Bear, followed by a family swim and a fun packed activity day including archery, bungee trampolining, cycling, water gliders, a walk to the beach and of course hitting the dance floor in the evening. Not a bad birthday for a five year old!
We enjoyed holidays in Tenby before having the children and also have fond memories of the children on the beach with us as one of their first holidays – the memories of packing everything but the kitchen sink are not so fond!
This year – with a five and six year old – the luggage was a little lighter and sitting and relaxing wasn’t an option until the boys had gone to sleep.
From walks into Tenby to visits to nearby attractions such as Heatherton’s World of Activities and Pembroke Castle – it was certainly a week of memory making.
The Kiln Park site has seen significant investment in recent years including this year’s revamp of the bar and restaurant. We enjoyed great quality food, fantastic, friendly service and a great setting in the nautical themed restaurant. A little tip – reserve your table if you want to sit in the lighthouse booth or the Caldy boat as they are very popular.
But what made our holiday extra special – the staff. The Haven entertainment team (I think I’m still singing blue or yellow now!) are exceptional – led by Andy – they made every second fun for the boys.
Another little tip – head for the beach and turn left and follow the path for 10 minutes and you’ll find yourself at the beachside bars of South Beach which sits just below the town of Tenby. Perfect at any time of day! You can sit and relax and enjoy watching the children play without getting sand between your toes.
Top tip number three – buy an activity pass as the larger the bundle the cheaper the activities are and the children have talked non-stop about all of the activities we did during the week since returning home.
We need another holiday to recover!
