A hotel in Telford is literally flying the flag for the wedding season – after bosses erected a 16ft flagpole outside reception.

The flagpole outside Buckatree Hall Hotel, by the foot of the Wrekin, is part of a new range of revamped wedding packages on offer this year.

Couples now have the option of hoisting up a personalised flag, releasing butterflies or balloons on their wedding day, attaching a padlock with their initials to the bridge over the lake and taking home a personalised slate.

Wedding organisers at Buckatree Hall Hotel in Wellington believe the only limit is a couple’s imagination.

General Manager Wayne Jenson said he is looking forward to seeing what people come up with.

He said: “We have put up a new flagpole at the hotel and intend to get personalised flags for each couple getting married who wants one.

“We want to celebrate each wedding and think this is a perfect way to add a personalised touch to the day.

“We have seen more and more people decide on a themed wedding or ask us what it is we’re able to do for them – the answer is anything!

“The only limit on what we can provide for a couple, other than their budget, is their imagination.

“Our wedding event organisers Emma and Donna are looking forward to what is to come.”

Staff at the hotel have been looking into the opportunity to order in caterpillars which will hatch into a butterfly at the correct time.

They have also set up a wire on the bridge over the lake at the historic building where a series of padlocks will begin to appear in the natural surroundings, these can be revisited at any time.

“We have been to a number of wedding fairs already this year but there are plenty of other opportunities to come and speak to us to see what we can cater for,” Emma said.

“We look forward to seeing everyone whenever they can make it and hearing about the great – and maybe unusual – ideas they come up with for weddings.

“We can also talk about payment plans as we offer a scheme to pay in installments.”

The 62-bedroom hotel has an 80-cover restaurant, a 50-cover bar and a 200-capacity function room for weddings, awards ceremonies and events.
