More than 350 injured people have been airlifted out of Shropshire this year and now a Telford vehicle hire company has raised vital funds to help the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity continue with its life-saving rescue missions.
Bosses at Jolly Good Vehicle Rentals on the Halesfield Industrial Estate have raised almost £800 after donating £5 from every rental for 31 days to the charity.
Michael Jenkins, manager of the depot which opened in April, said: “We are delighted to have raised £780 for this exceptional charity and we would like to thank all our customers for their support.
“We had set a target of £500 with £5 from every rental throughout July being donated to the charity so we are thrilled to have exceeded this by an extra few hundred pounds.
“With customers travelling hundreds of miles on the road each week it seemed a fitting charity for the business to support.
“Each mission undertaken by the air ambulance costs £2,500 and in the past year alone the crew has been called out 2,000 times in total and airlifted 358 patients out of Shropshire.
“That’s a huge expense but the charity gets no funding from the Government and is totally reliant on donations from the public and local businesses.
“We are really proud to help such a valuable charity and hope the money raised will help, in a small way, to keeping the service operational.

Since opening the Telford depot in April Mr Jenkins has seen bookings increase week on week and is now serving customers right across the borough.
The firm, which has its company head office in Wrexham, provides cars, vans, campervans and other vehicles for hire and is open seven days a week from 7am.
