Staff at a taxi firm in Shropshire are preparing for a festive fancy dress sponsored walk to raise cash for a charity which changes young people’s lives.

Taxi drivers and office staff at Go Carz, along with their friends and family, will be walking from Telford Town Park to Coalport on December 6 as part of the firm’s fundraising efforts for the Climbing Out charity.

Their aim is to raise enough money to fund a five-day outward bound course for youngsters who have had a life-changing injury or illness.

Climbing Out is run by Kelda Wood, who lives near Shrewsbury, and who herself battled back from a major leg injury to establish the charity.

Mandy Morris, of Go Carz, who is organising the sponsored walk, said she hoped lots of people would join in.

She said: “Climbing Out is an amazing charity and we have pledged to raise £7,500 through numerous events which will fund a outward bound course for youngsters suffering from kidney disease.

“The charity really does change people’s lives by showing them they can achieve great things despite the challenges they face due to their illness, and we are delighted to be able to help.

“We are encouraging our drivers, staff, and friends and family to get involved with the sponsored walk, which is the first major event we have held in this charity campaign.

“In fact everyone is welcome – you don’t need to have a connection with Go Carz, just get in touch for a sponsorship form and come along on the day.”

Walkers will be meeting at 11am in Telford Town Park on December 6 and people are encouraged to wear festive fancy dress.
