Shropshire’s largest taxi company has a base in Wellington for the first time in its history after taking over the phone lines of a rival firm.

Go Carz has reached a deal with Telford Taxis to take ownership of its office at Wellington railway station – meaning Go Carz now has 340 cars working in the Telford area.

Cindy Wilday, director at Go Carz, said the expansion into Wellington was exciting news for the company.

She said: “It is the first time we have ever had a base in Wellington, which is a busy market town with a high demand for taxis, so we are delighted.

“We will be freshening up the office at the train station and branding it with the Go Carz livery as quickly as possible because we want everyone to know we are here.

“The office will be manned so we will be able to offer taxis to people as they come off the train, which we think will be a really popular initiative.

“We now have 340 cars operating across Telford and we will continue to work hard to provide our professional, flexible service to as many people as possible.

“We are always keen to recruit new drivers because demand is so high – we were taking 120,000 phone calls a week at the end of December across Shropshire and the West Midlands.”
