Switching to the panto dark side

No pantomime is complete without a good villain and we cannot wait to see Joanne Heywood as the Wicked Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn.

After enthralling audiences as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella last year, Heywood has switched to show her dark side this year.

Trained at the Guildford School of Acting, Heywood has played Cecily Pigeon in The Odd Couple, Lady Capulet in Romeo & Juliet, Patricia in Behind the Scenes at the Museum, both Lottie Grady and Mrs Northrop in When We Are Married and Principal Boy in seven Pantomimes -all at the Theatre Royal in York where she was born.

She has many other theatre credits to her name around the country.

She has also appeared on television, with two series as Dilys in First of the Summer Wine and she has been in around 40 commercials ranging from being a dancing cross dressing chef for a famous biscuit company to helping out a bloated friend in a familiar digestive aiding yoghurt drink!

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs is written by Telford-born Paul Hendy and produced by Evolution –  the hugely successful creative team behind pantomimes at Theatre Severn since 2011.

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs opens on Wednesday, November 29 and runs for 68 performances until Sunday, January 7.

Tickets are available from the box office at Theatre Severn by calling (01743) 281281 or online at www.theatresevern.co.uk
