Students at a Staffordshire school are aiming to strike a chord with visitors when they stage a major musical extravaganza.

The youngsters at St Dominic’s Grammar School, Brewood, have been busy tuning up for the event which will feature all ages and a wide variety of styles of music in a packed programme of entertainment on June 12.

It all starts at 2pm and the outdoor concert, weather permitting, will run throughout the afternoon and end with the senior concert starting at 5pm. Noreen Perks, of St Dominic’s, said it promised to be a wonderful musical experience and tickets were now on sale to the public.

“There will be lots going on covering all styles and genres of music so there will be something to suit everyone’s tastes,” she added.

“We have lots of pupils who have lessons in school and many of them are part of various bands that love to perform in concerts. We are having a soloists and small ensembles concert for the Prep school starting at 2pm.

“Ages range from Year 2 to Year 6 and the concert will be held outdoors, providing the weather is good.

“The senior concert gets under way at 5pm and will feature many soloists performing both classical and pop music, the choir will be singing some items, the school ensemble will be playing, we have pop bands performing and Year 7 and 8 will be entertaining visitors with their own compositions.

“We have an excellent music programme lined up and we hope to see as many people as possible coming along on the day. Food and drink will be available – so why not join us and make a day of it?

“Music plays a big part at St Dominic’s and we have some very talented students who love to entertain. It’s a varied programme and one we are sure will prove very popular with our visitors.”

Tickets for the concert are £5 adults, £3 concessions and available from reception or by calling 01902 850248.
