A self storage company in Shrewsbury is calling on the kind hearted people of Shropshire to donate gifts for children, young carers and the elderly this Christmas.
Storage King, situated on Battlefield Enterprise Park, which is Shropshire’s largest and longest-established self storage centre, will donate all the gifts collected to a number of local charities in the area.
The appeal aims to bring a little festive cheer to those who may be alone at Christmas, and not lucky enough to have the love and support of family and friends.
The Shrewsbury based company ran a toy appeal for children in 2015 which was a huge success, with people helping to donate 600 hundred toys. Charities including Hope House, Princess Royal Hospital and The Harry Johnson Trust were a few of the grateful recipients.
This year Storage King are hoping to make the appeal even bigger and are encouraging local charities to register their interest, letting them know what type of gifts they would like to receive, how many and who they would be given to.
From the charities who register, five will be selected and invited to a Christmas event to be held at the Shrewsbury store, where each charity will be presented with their gifts. It will also give them an opportunity to meet people within the local community who might want to learn more about the work they do.
The Christmas gift appeal will also be run by the Nottingham, Warrington, West Bromwich and Dudley stores, who have also experienced great success in the past. Last year, Nottingham and the West Midlands branches received in excess of 350 toys each. So many in fact, that some charities were able to come back and collect more.
Managing Director of Storage King, Sarah Hopkins said: “Christmas is a time of happiness and joy, when people are surrounded by their family and friends.
“For some, this is not always the case, so it’s important we take the time to help those less fortunate than ourselves at a time of year when being around loved ones is very important.
“We hope that the Christmas appeal will put a smile on a few faces.”
Storage King are urging local charities in the area to come forward to help with the appeal and any who would like to register their interest in receiving the donated gifts can contact James Tomlinson at j.tomlinson@jandpr.com with a closing date of September 30th.
