Staff at a taxi firm have raised more than £1,000 by taking part in a sponsored walk bedecked in festive fancy dress.

The team from Go Carz, which has offices in Telford and Shrewsbury, walked from Telford Town Park to Coalport and said they enjoyed the challenge – despite the wind and rain.

They were raising money for the company’s chosen charity, Climbing Out, which helps youngsters who have had a life-changing injury or illness.

Go Carz is aiming to raise a total of £7,500 through various events and challenges to fund a five-day outward bound course for young people with kidney disease.

Carl Wilday, managing director of Go Carz, took part in the walk on Sunday (December 6) and said he was delighted with the amount raised.

“Everyone at Go Carz is fully behind our drive to raise £7,500 for Climbing Out, which is a fantastic charity really changing the lives of young people in Shropshire and beyond,” Carl said.

“We have lots of fundraising events coming up, and to raise more than £1,000 through the sponsored walk surpassed all of our expectations.

“We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part, and to everyone who sponsored us – we really are very grateful.”

The company has already raised money for Climbing Out by having a cake sale, and more events are planned for the new year as staff work towards the £7,500 target.
