They say social media and digital marketing never stands still, so we at J&PR make every effort to stay up to date with the latest innovations and trends.

So it was that J&PR account managers Simon and JT travelled to Manchester recently for the national Social Media Conference.

A range of highly-respected speakers were on the bill – including the social media lead at BBC Wales, Owen Williams, and overall social media guru, Katie King – all discussing the very latest developments in digital marketing strategy.

It was a truly thought-provoking day with loads of eye-opening news, views and stats. Here are just some of the headlines…

To be successful on digital platforms, you need to set clear goals with a defined strategy of how you are going to achieve them.

Keep measuring to check your progress.

When it comes to Facebook, make the most of its ability to target your posts and adverts to the right audience – it’s incredibly powerful and cost-effective, so make sure you use it!

Ask people to try, not just buy.

Content with relevant images gets 94% more views than those without.

Infographics are liked and shared 3 times more than other images.

And finally… 75% of purchases now start with an online search – so if your business is not engaging with people online, that’s a lot of customers to potentially miss out on!
