A Shropshire businesswoman is supporting a junior football team’s bid for victory after becoming an official sponsor.
Adele Conlon, owner of family-run Shropshire Tutor, has become the latest sponsor of Wrockwardine Wood Football Club, in Telford.
Miss Conlon, who provides both private and class-based educational services to children under the age of 11 in English and maths, has provided the Under 9s junior squad with jackets and also funding for the club to buy a new substitution bench.
She said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to sponsor the junior football team.
“There are some real talented boys in the squad and the club itself does a wonderful job of coaching and encouraging the youngsters to improve their skills and ability.
“All the coaches are very committed and give up a lot of their own spare time to help run such a successful club.
“My own son Finn is in the Under 9 squad and he absolutely loves going to training and playing in matches.
“He gets a lot of encouragement and support but above else has lots of fun and enjoys being outdoors.
“It’s so important for youngsters to get outside, exercise and keep fit and football is a great way to do all three.”
Steve Bowler, manager of the Under 9 team at Wrockwardine FC, thanked Miss Conlon for supporting the club, which has around 200 young players.
He said: “We are a community based club so we are always looking for extra funding. The jackets which have been sponsored by Shropshire Tutor help to make the club look more organised and professional so we are hugely grateful to Adele for her support.”
Miss Conlon set up her tutoring business three years ago to provide one-to-one sessions.
Since then the business has expanded across the county and she now works with several nurseries delivering her specialist little learners programme and hosts class-based tutoring sessions for Year 6 students preparing to sit SATs exams.
