A Shropshire company caring for adults with learning disabilities has teamed up with another company to move into the 21st Century to improve its internal communications with staff.

Bosses at Adelphi Care Services based on Longbow Professional Centre in Harlescott have installed an intranet system in a bid to transform communications within the company.

And they are hoping the move will make sharing information between staff much quicker and easier.

Joe Kwaterski, business development director, said: “We are always looking at ways that we can improve our business and what we do.

“For a while we have been examining how we communicate information within the company.

“We realised that although we weren’t doing anything wrong there were changes we could make.”

He said: “With the ongoing assistance of the staff of Information Solutions of Shrewsbury, we are beginning to master the intranet system they have constructed for us.

“They have been a real help to us and have given us expert guidance. The intranet is providing us with a much more efficient method of communicating information internally.”

Each of Adelphi Care Services’ homes, domiciliary services, supported living and respite are all now linked to head office.

The intranet means they are able to access a wide range of specialised information, interact with it and report back instantly.

The firm has a portfolio of residential properties in Wem and Shrewsbury which offer a home for people aged from 19 to 64 who have learning difficulties, Autism or Aspergers, in addition to supported living and domiciliary services.

It is also opening a new six-bedroom residential home for young adults in Stoke.

The company, which is marking its 21st anniversary this year, is also taking advantage of social media to highlight the valuable work it does for people with Autism and will also soon be on Twitter.

Mr Kwaterski said: “As well as our internet site, social media, such as Twitter, is a good way for us to get in touch with people who want more information about our services and what is on offer in terms of provision in and around Shrewsbury.

“It is important that people feel that Adelphi Care Services is an important part of the community and social media can be a useful tool to do this.”
