Leaders of a Shropshire school have praised more than a dozen pupils who have obtained scholarship success.
The achievements are being celebrated at Prestfelde School in Shrewsbury and cover a range of categories open to pupils.
Head of Prestfelde, Fiona Orchard, said staff and pupils should be commended for all of the hard work that had gone into making the scholarship success possible.
“We have first-rate staff at the school all working towards our aim of fully preparing pupils for entry and possible scholarships into senior schools,” she said.
“The pupils involved have all worked extremely hard to attain the high levels of excellence asked of them and it is a most rewarding experience to see them succeed.”
Prestfelde’s senior school is for children aged 11 to 13 and its aim is to provide an all-round education which helps pupils prepare for the challenges ahead in life as self-assured confident people.
The school’s scholarship assessment process is open to both Prestfelde and external pupils. It takes into account ability, attitude and work ethos.
All prospective pupils are invited to a special taster day to look around the school and meet other pupils and teaching staff.
During the taster day they are academically assessed so the school can gauge the necessary levels of support, encouragement and guidance that are needed.
Scholarship pupils are expected to act as ambassadors within school, where they share their talents and expertise with other pupils who may then develop an interest in that subject.
There are no set number of awards, but are awarded on merit. Awards commence in the September of Year 7 and run to the end of Year 8.
Applications are also currently open for 7+ scholarships, with assessments taking place on March 23.
