Residential property team expands at Shropshire-based solicitors

The property market in Telford is having a busy start to 2016 with no “winter slowdown” which is usually seen at this time of year.

That’s the view of lawyers in the residential property team at Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors, which has just taken on two new members of staff in the Telford office.

Nicola Bates has joined the team as a residential conveyancing solicitor, and Nicola Simmons has taken up a conveyancing support role.

Meanwhile, long-serving conveyancer Carolyn Burgoyne retires at the end of January after 28 years at the firm.

Telford residential property team leader at Lanyon Bowdler, Nichola Wilson, welcomed the two new recruits and wished Carolyn well in her retirement.

She said: “Carolyn has been at Lanyon Bowdler for nearly 30 years and during that time she has helped thousands of people at one of the most important moments in their lives, when buying their own home.

“She is leaving the firm to enjoy her well-earned retirement and the team wish her well.

“Nicola Bates qualified as a solicitor at Elliot Bridgman in 2012 and will be dealing with purchases and sales along with all other residential property matters.

“Nicola Simmons has more than 10 years’ experience of providing conveyancing support to solicitors and worked in Telford and Bridgnorth before joining us at our Telford office.

“We have had a really busy start to the year, with enquiries across a range of different types of transactions, including those upgrading their family homes, new-build purchases and remortgage work.

“We have not really seen a winter slowdown at all, which we have traditionally seen over the past few years. As a result of this, and to further boost the team, Louise Poole from the Shrewsbury office has transferred across to the offices in Telford Town Centre. New recruit Milly Flavel has joined the team at the offices on Abbey Foregate, to ensure service levels in that office are maintained.

“Telford is very much a growth area with lots of opportunities for property investors, so we are looking forward to another busy year.”
