Nominations for the annual Businesses for Children Awards, which honour Shropshire’s top businesses catering for children and young people, are due to close at the end of this month (October).
Organisers today said there is still time for people to submit their top choices to recognise the efforts of businesses that work with children and young people and help to raise their profile across the county.
Categories for 2017 include Children’s Charity, Shropshire Childminder, Children’s Product, Business for Babes, Nursery/Pre-school, Educational Business and Sports Business.
The 2017 awards ceremony will also include a new volunteer category and the last date for entries is October 30.
Andra Brasovanu, awards co-ordinator for 2017, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer a new category for 2017.
“Volunteers work so hard in our community and without them so many of the activities, products and events for children and young people would not be possible.
“We know our judges will find this a very hard category from which to choose a winner..”
Miss Brasovanu said the team is delighted with the number of nominations received so far.
“A few of our categories have seen entries flooding in and judges will have a very difficult job.
“We would still love for more to come in so we can fully highlight the incredible work that businesses and charities that work with or for children do across Shropshire,” she added.
The black tie awards ceremony will be held at the Park Inn Hotel, Telford, on March 11, 2017, from 7pm.
Miss Brasovanu said the ceremony, now in its fourth year, would be bigger and better than ever before.
She said: “Yarrington are supporting us in 2017 and have lots of exciting things planned for the ceremony.
“We know that the businesses which attend always have a great time as well as being able to network with like-minded entrepreneurs.”
The evening, which will be hosted by BBC Shropshire film critic and editor of Shropshire Business Today Carl Jones, will begin with a drinks reception at 6.45pm.
