Older residents in south Shropshire will have better access to aids for independence after a local company reacted to their needs.
Lunts Pharmacy at Drovers’ House, Craven Arms, has begun stocking a range of products to help those living in surrounding rural areas.
The family-owned pharmacy is now offering folding reachers, adjustable shower stools, single handle grab rails, folding walking sticks and pill boxes.
Pharmacist Lorraine Anderson and her staff felt it was important to offer the things people in the area need, without having to travel to the next town.
She said: “We have had a number of customers come in for prescriptions or medicines and while they are here they have asked where they can get these types of products.
“Many were having to go to a specialist store or a number of stores for each item.
“So we decided to get a stand of products in store which may suit their needs.
“We also have catalogues to order stock into store from an extensive range of products as well.
“Now they can get everything they need from one place and for some people it’s a place they visit fairly regularly so should be much more convenient for them.
“We are very pleased to be able to offer this and make life easier for our customers.”
Under the Betterlife Independence Living range the pharmacy also now stocks unisex urinals, stocking aids, gel heel cushions, infrared massagers and flatbed nebulisers.
The layout of the pharmacy has been redesigned to make customers aware of the new stock and make room for it.
Lorraine added: “There is a large rural population that uses our pharmacy and for older residents it can be very difficult to get out to places where they can buy the products they need.
“Many don’t do online shopping either so we are pleased we can order in to our pharmacy for them as well.
“We would always encourage customers to let us know if there is anything we can provide to meet their needs, we will always look into suggestions to see if we can provide this.”
