A Shropshire-based taxi firm is creating more new jobs at it continues to expand its service.
Go Carz, which has more than 800 cars across Shropshire and the Midlands, is looking for new recruits at its call centre in Shrewsbury.
Bosses at the private hire firm say a continued rise in demand for taxis means more staff are needed to man the phone lines and process bookings taken through the website and smartphone app.
Cindy Wilday, marketing director, said: “Demand has steadily increased over the past year, and we are now taking more than 110,000 phone calls every week across our areas of Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton and Walsall.
“Our drivers are carrying out about 75,000 journeys a week, so we need a big team of staff behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly.
“We are looking to recruit four more members of staff at our Shrewsbury office, with a variety of different shifts available on weekdays and at weekends.
“At Go Carz we are proud of our efforts to be an extremely professional and well-trained team so we are looking for people with a polite and courteous attitude who love working with the public.
“Previous experience of working in a busy taxi office is an advantage but we would welcome applications from anyone as full training is provided.”
The job openings are the latest in a major recruitment programme at Go Carz over the past year.
The company has recently recruited driver support officers who patrol each area serviced by Go Carz to check vehicles and driving standards.
Direct marketing teams have also been taken on to deliver leaflets and other promotional material to homes and businesses across the Midlands.
On top of this staff recruitment, Go Carz has also been encouraging more drivers to join the company, with managers saying work is available for hundreds of extra drivers across Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton and Walsall.
