A new “flexible space” has been launched at Shropshire’s largest independent furniture store after the company warehouse was moved to their second site in the county.
Alan Ward in Shrewsbury previously held stock at the store on Ennerdale Road but recently moved the warehouse to a purpose built distribution centre on Battlefield Enterprise Park.
Carl Johnson, managing director of Alan Ward said the move meant the stock was now delivered straight to the distribution centre ready for delivery which reduced costs, the company’s carbon footprint and delivery times.
The former warehouse has now been transformed into a flexible space which was unveiled on Thursday with a £1million stock clearance sale.
The flexible space can be accessed through the store and initially all leading brand clearance stock will be brought to the store from other Alan Ward stores in Chester, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Winsford to make way for the new Spring season ranges.
Mr Johnson said: “The flexible space opens up many options for us here at Alan Ward and the most obvious event to hold first was the £1million stock clearance sale.
“However going forward we have many ideas and plans in the pipeline to open up the 5,000ft squ area to other businesses and charitable organisations..
“To other businesses it does obviously still have the industrial feel about it but equally it can be transformed into something quite different for a specific event.
“It is full of stock ready at the moment as part of the clearance sale with plans for more events in the future.
“We plan to hold a celebration event for staff later in the year and have plans for exhibitions, manufacturer’s roadshows, charity fundraising events and much more.
“It is a fantastic space and we are open to ideas from our customers and suppliers and other organisations as to what they would like to see the flexible space used for.”
The £1million clearance sale started at 9.30am on Thursday and continued throughout the day until 8pm.
The massive sale will continue in the flexible space every day from 9.30am and will continued throughout March until all the clearance stock is sold.
Mr Johnson added: “We have some truly fantastic offers in the £1million stock clearance sale but be quick because once it’s gone it’s gone.”
