Say hello to Freya!

We're finishing our 'J&PR in Lockdown' series with a fantastic surprise... say hello to Freya, our new Digital Assistant at J&PR!

One month in and looking forward to more, I’m Freya, the official ‘newbie’ at J&PR.

Who am I?

I’m a 2020 Marketing Graduate from Cardiff and I think it’s pretty safe to say that completing my final assignments and dissertation during those first few months of lockdown was unexpected to say the least. However with the help of my parents, partner and a multipack of Wotsits, I was able to persevere through the uncertainty and worry experienced by us all in the beginning and achieved my goal of finishing University with a First Class Bachelor's Degree, even if I didn’t get a Graduation.

Starting a new job in a national lockdown.

Let’s face it, it was never going to be easy having first day introductions on Zoom. The constant fear that the wifi may fail or that your dog will start barking at the postman. I was however fortunate enough to have previously completed a week of work experience with J&PR in December 2019 meaning that I had some idea of what to expect and who everybody was.

In my opinion, the hardest part of working from home is the daily bickering with your partner (who is also working from home) over whose turn it is on the ‘proper desk’ and which one of you has to spend the entire day at the kitchen table - only positive of which being the easy access to the kettle for a plethora of Yorkshire Tea!

How I’ve found the pandemic.

I think that this third, and hopefully final, national lockdown has been the hardest for everyone. Shorter days, colder temperatures and almost a year of repeated days has been mentally draining

I know that the last year has been the hardest year of my life. I’ve experienced loss, boredom, fear, frustration and hopelessness all at the same time. I also know that I’m one of the lucky ones; I’ve been given a wonderful job opportunity by J&PR, I’ve been able to move in with my partner and our rescue dog Bentley and I’ve had a subscription to almost every TV streaming service you can think of (shoutout to Disney+).
