Launch of Polish Social Group in Telford
06 Dec 2017
by Rebecca Dutton

The launch of the Telford and Wrekin Polish Social Group will take place on Friday.

The celebrations will be held at the Forge in Oakengates, celebrating St Nicholas Day.

St Nicholas Day or Dzien Świętego Mikołaja, starts off the Christmas holidays in Poland.

This holiday honors St. Nichola, who was the 4th-century Bishop of Myra in Lycia, what is now a province of Turkey.  He had a reputation for secret gift-giving.

On Friday, children will receive a gift at the celebrations. The event will cost £3 for children but adults are free.

It will include various stalls from a number of local organisations as well as free food and a Polish disco.

After Friday’s celebrations, the Polish Social Group will continue to meet weekly at the Forge.

It will offer a space to the Polish community for activities, signposting, training as well as a community area to celebrate traditional events.
