June has been a brilliant month - we’ve enjoyed awards ceremonies, holidays, client events, birthdays, the Platinum Jubilee… oh, and a whole lot of work!
But what were our favourite bits?
It’s going to be an obvious one - winning the Shropshire Chamber Business Award 2022 for Covid Response!
Of course, this was Kirsty’s highlight for this month! She said the awards ceremony was a fantastic evening with the team, after all it was their hard work, dedication and determination which meant J&PR took home that beautiful trophy made from Jesmonite!
Kirsty wasn’t the only one who saw this as her highlight; Dani loved being back out at an event and chatting to people, and it’s even better when the team wins an award!
Sophie picked winning the Covid Response award as her highlight, too. She’s extremely proud to be part of such an amazing team and is so pleased J&PR’s incredible work for its staff, clients, and the Shropshire community during Covid was recognised.
Moving on up
Kirsty’s youngest son, Archie, went on his first residential trip in three years this month, in his final term of primary school! This was a real highlight for Kirsty as she’s very passionate about the opportunities children of the pandemic have missed outside the classroom, and it was great for her to see so many children enjoying making those memories once again.
She’d like to say a huge thanks to the teachers and support staff who give up their own family time to host residential trips… they certainly deserve a vino or two by the end of the week!
And it’s not just Archie who will be leaving primary school this year… Rhea and Simon’s son, George, will be too!
His secondary school uniform arrived this month which was a real highlight for Rhea. She finds it scary to think she’ll have a child in secondary school in September, but George is really excited about starting and Rhea thinks he’ll love it!
A Krazy month
From schools to soapboxes now as Rhea’s work highlight was heading to the Krazy Races scrutineering at Corkills Northwich in preparation for the event which took place on June 26th!
It was great for her to be back on the ground interviewing great people doing great things to raise money for charity - not to mention seeing those fantastic karts teams have spent so long designing and putting together!
Rhea can’t wait to be on-site at the Wolverhampton Krazy Races on August 21st to see the action up close. If you fancy joining her, it’s free to attend and you can enter a team until July 31st – find out more here.
Speaking of Krazy Races… running the social media for the Northwich event was both Freya M’s and Freya R’s highlight! The pair did a brilliant job.
It was a fantastic day and the weather held out, which was a relief after a gloomy forecast!
Adventures galore!
It was a busy month for all outside of work, but we don’t think anyone was busier than Dani! Her son turned six and her daughter turned three within nine days of each other (with Father’s Day thrown in between them!). It was all fun and games with a bouncy castle in the garden and lots of laughter, which made all of Dani’s hard work worth it!
She’s already started saving for 2037 when her children will turn 18 and 21 in the same month…
Freya R headed out and about this month (and not just to Northwich!) to visit the Blue Planet Aquarium with her best friend Rachael, and she loved going through its shark tunnel.
In fact, Freya says everything she got up to this month has been a highlight for her - from visiting Northwich to attending the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards and its Expo to enjoying a fabulous barbecue at our client Ascendancy’s lovely new office in Newport!
Another one to venture out of Shropshire, Tony had a fantastic week in North Wales with his family towards the end of this month, which we think was very well deserved!
Sophie ventured down south for her personal highlight, as she went to a Red Hot Chilli Peppers gig with her dad! She got the tickets for his birthday in December 2021 so the concert had been a long time coming, and they both had a great time.
It was particularly sentimental for Sophie as her dad got her interested in the band when she was a young child, and they last went to see them in 2011.
And how could we forget the amazing Platinum Jubilee weekend?! Simon loved the street party the Altons and their neighbours held and thought it was a fantastic community event. It was lovely for him to get to know their new neighbours and everyone enjoyed spending time with each other.
The absolute highlight, though, was their youngest son Ellis winning the Victoria sponge competition!
The Jubilee bank holiday was a royally great long weekend for Freya M too as her grandparents visited for the first time since Covid struck. It was the first time they saw Freya’s new home in Ironbridge and she loved showing them around the town, despite the fact the local chippy was shut!
We’re in the office sometimes!
It’s not all play all of the time - although it often feels like it when you work at J&PR!
Dani’s been working on Ludlow Fringe Festival this month in the run-up to its launch with the return of Ludlow Carnival. She’s been answering press questions, arranging coverage and last-minute checks. There are plenty of great acts and the festival is running until July 9th, take a look at what’s on here!
Tony’s enjoyed learning about how the team at Shropshire-based Dulson Training is pulling out all the stops to get more HGV drivers trained and on the road to address the country’s driver shortage.
And last but not least, it’s been bittersweet for Si as he finished his latest website copywriting project for a client. He was really satisfied as the client was delighted with the results, but now he feels sad it’s over!
Si’s already looking forward to his next website project so you know where to find him… and in case you don’t, it’s at info@jandpr.com!
And breathe!
Wow - we’re tired just thinking about what we got up to in June! If this month’s anything to go by, July is surely going to be a great one!
