J&PR's February highlights!
25 Feb 2022
by Team J&PR

We’ve had another busy month at J&PR, so much so it seems only yesterday we were sharing our January highlights with you!

We’ve looked back on yet another marvellous month to share our highlights… here they are!

Kirsty was delighted we received more new enquiries in one month than in any previous month. Alongside numerous meetings with potential new clients, she also managed to deliver a number of PR and social media training sessions at Shropshire Chamber, a webinar in the Digital Mastery Unlocked series for Marches Growth Hub and several one-to-one Two Hour Takeovers sessions!

Due to her busy schedule, Kirsty’s personal highlight this month was simply managing to survive! It’s been a very busy month of work, alongside being a mum and a wife - not forgetting the half term arriving faster than expected! She’s certain her sons’ diaries are getting busier by the week with sporting fixtures. We don’t know how she does it, but she does it pretty well…

After a cancelled half term trip to Scotland due to Storm Eunice, Rhea enjoyed a replacement family visit to Cosford - Cosford Air Show being one of her first clients when she launched Journalism and PR in 2009!

Working on the in-house J&PR Academy to allow the team to share and teach their skills has also been a highlight for Rhea. Long may Team J&PR continue working smoothly and effectively together!

The training highlights continue with Sophie after she assisted Kirsty on our Shropshire Chamber training sessions. The feedback from all three courses was brilliant, and you can read it here and here. Sophie also enjoyed a trip to Newport to be a guest speaker at All About Newport. It’s definitely been a jam packed month, but she’s loved every second of it!

When Sophie’s not been travelling the length of Shropshire with Kirsty for training sessions, she’s been enjoying spending time at the cinema with her boyfriend.

Being a massive film lover, going back to the cinema regularly after so long without it has already brought her lots of joy, and after purchasing unlimited memberships, they’ve already had their money's worth in just two films! Team outing to the cinema anyone?!

Freya has attempted to restore her love of cooking this month by making a new recipe every weekend. Based on the smile we’ve seen on her face every Monday - she’s definitely enjoyed herself! So far, she’s covered lasagne, a victoria sponge with homemade jam, and spaghetti puttanesca. Here’s hoping she makes enough for leftovers…

Professionally, Freya celebrated her first work anniversary with us. Alongside the obvious gifts of chocolates and bubbly, we have also expanded her responsibilities in the business - something she’s delighted about!

Some of you may remember Dani’s professional highlight last month was writing some smashing award entries for our client, The Queer Box. This month, her highlight is that they’ve been shortlisted for the Start Up Business Of the Year at the Federation of Small Businesses Awards. How fantastic!

It was the first time Dani had written an entry for this organisation so she was pretty pleased. Well done Dani - we’ve got our fingers crossed for a win!

When she wasn’t celebrating a successful award entry, she was enjoying the half term break with her family. After numerous outings, including the local swimming pool and Attingham Park, it’s safe to say she had some fun! Back to work for a rest…

Team J&PR’s professional prowess continues for Simon after he managed to secure some TV airtime for Shrewsbury after a successful pitch to BBC Midlands Today

Thanks to Simon, Shrewsbury BID and a range of businesses were featured in a fantastic piece looking at how town centres are having to adapt to attract people in the wake of the pandemic and an increased reliance on internet shopping.

When Simon isn’t scoring airtime for clients, he’s watching his eldest son goalkeeping for the Shrewsbury Town development squad. With no initial ambition for his son's football other than enjoyment, he can’t help but feel proud seeing him pull on the blue and amber shirt of their local club. Definitely a proud dad moment!

For Tony, working with our new client Ludlow Fringe Festival has been one of his highlights. As the festival is celebrating its 10th birthday this year, he’s already looking forward to attending the summer celebrations.

He also celebrated a personal highlight of seeing all four of his grandchildren receive good reports ahead of half term. Of course, they get it from their grandad!

That’s all for February, but we’re already looking forward to seeing what the rest of 2022 brings!

Fingers crossed for some better weather… our thoughts are of course with all of those homeowners and business owners across Shropshire who have been left devastated by the flooding yet again. Team J&PR is ready to roll up the sleeves and put on the wellies to help our client West Mid Showground to get ready for showtime in May. It will be a huge effort but we know the community will pull it out of the bag once again.
