J&PR's August highlights
04 Sep 2023

While the summer events season may be drawing to a close, there’s still plenty going on to keep team J&PR busy! Here are our favourite moments from August…

Folk Festival Fun

Shrewsbury Folk Festival is both Rhea’s professional and personal highlight!

Rhea and Si have been attending the festival for 14 years and have been part of the Social Media team on site for a decade!

A four-day event with three music stages, two youth festival marquees, a village stage, two musical workshop tents, a shopping village, a food village, numerous bars and a hub for Pilates, crafting and more can be quite the challenge for a social media team working a combined 12 hours a day - but Rhea loves it.

“I get to take the family along to the festival and we camp with friends - and I love working on events, so it combines lots of my favourite experiences into one,” she said.

“We also have a strong marketing lead at the festival who guides us well, and the entire on-site team is always fabulous so it’s a pleasure to work with all of them. Roll on 2024.”

Si also chose Shrewsbury Folk Festival as his combination highlight! He said camping at the DMOS People West Mid Showground for the whole weekend is always a lovely atmosphere, and they get a great sense of achievement from running the festival's social media channels during the event, sharing dozens of fantastic photos and videos to showcase the festival.

Office highlights

Sophie’s professional highlight is working with local business owner Debbie Carvell to promote her clothing store in Shrewsbury, Carvèll on the square. This has also meant helping to put together and promote a charity fashion show for the fantastic local charity Lingen Davies. Sophie is a huge fashion lover and even nearly studied fashion journalism at university, so tying work with her personal passion is a dream!

At work, Tony is happy to be working with Dwello Mortgages, which is going the extra mile for homeowners by hosting free advice pop-up surgeries across the county. It’s a fantastic service to offer to the people of Shropshire.

Dani’s professional highlight is just working at J&PR! She said: “It’s a very generic one but I always appreciate this company so much during the summer holidays and the flexibility it gives with juggling life, the trust Kirsty and Rhea have in us and the whole company in general - it rocks.”

Apprenticeship success

Freya’s professional highlight was finishing her apprenticeship with SBC Training! Exams done, portfolio submitted and end point assessment completed, she’s thrilled to have finished with a distinction grade! We’re so proud of Freya and her fantastic achievement - well done!

And Kirsty’s professional highlight also involved SBC after she hosted her first Creative Writing course for the next cohort of Digital Marketing apprentices who will be following in Freya’s footsteps.

Trips away

Dani’s personal highlight was her holidays! She spent time in both Somerset (Longleat, Wookey Hole caves - where she got to see the cheese produced by our wonderful client Barber’s - Weston-Super-Mare beach, Cheddar Gorge and various other places!) with extended family and Bulgaria with just her little team has been great. Lots of relaxing, and connecting. She even managed to read three books!

Sophie went on her first-ever cruise at the start of this month with her boyfriend and his family. They visited the beautiful Norwegian Fjords and the week included paddleboarding and swimming in them, and lots of lovely food and time together. Sophie thrived and would now consider herself a cruise convert!

The holidays continued and Kirsty enjoyed 10 nights down in Cornwall with her family - and yes the sun made an appearance for the full period! The forms of transport included motorhome, motorbike, bike, boat, bus and the good old feet!

On the mend and out and about

Tony is glad to see his eldest granddaughter Mia on the road to recovery after getting her knee surgery done at Oswestry's RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital. We hope she bounces back quickly!

This month has been all about the bikes for Freya, and she has really enjoyed the time spent with her motorbike group, whether taking over the arcade, enjoying a ride out, sitting by the fire or working on her bike in the garage. She’s feeling grateful to be surrounded by wonderful people.

So that’s August for Team J&PR, see you in a few weeks to tell you all about September!
