J&PR September Highlights
02 Oct 2024

We are heading into the last quarter of 2024 - Autumn vibes, darker nights….and Christmas not too far away (sorry…too early??).

So, what has the team been up to in September?

New clients, newsletters and celebrations!

Sophie’s professional highlight for the month has been newsletters! She said she loves doing them, and because it is a new quarter, she has had a couple of extras to complete on top of her usual monthly newsletters. They're slowly becoming my favourite thing to do.

Dani’s professional highlight was J&PR’s new clients! Dani has had three new clients in September and said it gets her so excited to learn about a business and get details of the great stories they have that she can shout about.

She said it has been really eye-opening to see another snippet of the amazing work that goes on in Shropshire and said it's going to be an honour to share it to a wider audience in the coming months.

Rhea’s highlight has also been a new client - working with The Trust Network and finding out about all they offer to estate management teams across the country has been a real pleasure. From free webinars to national conferences, the team does so much, and the fact that it is a free offering for schools and academies makes us part of something really wonderful.

Tony’s work highlight for September was the completion of SYA - All About Youth's new £1.5m headquarters.  Staff moved out of their old building in Shrewsbury last autumn for demolition and construction of the new building to take place.

A special networking event was held in the middle of this month to mark completion and show off the impressive new HQ to supporters. The project was made possible thanks to a £1.5 million Youth Investment Fund grant, funded by the Government and delivered by Social Investment Business in partnership with National Youth Agency, Resonance, and the Key Fund.

And this client event was a highlight for both Simon and Taffy too - who went along with the video equipment for interviews and content creation tasks.

Family and friends

Sophie’s personal highlight was a trip to Birmingham with her mum. They went to see Hairspray! at the theatre (which was her birthday present from February!) and enjoyed lots of great food and an overnight stay. She said it was so nice to have some mother-daughter time together.

Rhea’s personal highlight was hard to choose as September has been a month of birthday celebrations for friends and family, as well as a trip to Durham to visit friends and do some walking in the Pennines. She said she thinks the Pennines just pip everything else to the post…but it was a tough one!

Simon’s highlight was a birthday visit to Shrewsbury’s Market Hall - an annual trip that sees him buying a record and enjoying some lunch. The J&PR team are all given their birthdays off so they can enjoy it as they wish - we loved seeing the snaps of Simon’s day!

And it was a holiday in Tenby with the whole family that made the top of Tony’s personal highlight list.

Moving house and home offices

Dani has now moved house and her personal highlight for September is settling in! They moved in the whirlwind of summer holidays so she said it's been lovely to get a little more settled, get to know the neighbours and make little changes that have made it feel like home (before the mass decorating begins...). And part of this is a new home office, which is Dani’s absolute dream and now her new favourite place to be!

Teamwork and support

Kirsty’s professional highlight was seeing the full J&PR team in the office on the same day for the first time since before the summer holidays. We enjoyed a fantastic team meeting to update each other on what we are all working on.

However, the happiness of the reunion was short-lived as Kirsty’s dad was admitted to hospital that same day with sepsis. Kirsty would like to thank the team for their support and also the calls and emails she has had from clients and the understanding from people when she has had to reschedule meetings or training.

Giving flowers

It’s not every day Taffy walks in the office to a wonderful bouquet of flowers waiting for her by her desk. A secret admirer? Not quite. Taffy’s week at work, and possibly the rest of the year, was set off on a colourful high by Sophie who wanted to cheer her up after a not-so-kind September in her personal life. Needless to say, Taffy has been walking on cloud nine since. Who is cutting onions?!

On that flowery note, we welcome the sweet scent of October and wish everyone a cracking last quarter to 2024!
