A school in Shrewsbury is holding a series of free “stay and play” sessions for young children throughout the rest of this year.
Prestfelde School, in London Road, is inviting parents to bring their children along to the fun sessions within the school’s nursery grounds, with the first one starting on Friday September 30.
Emma Thelwell, head of Little Prestfelde, said everyone was welcome to the sessions, which were aimed at children aged under three.
“As a new parent it can be daunting to know how to begin teaching little ones to play and interact with other children,” she said.
“These stay and play sessions are a great opportunity for parents to come along and allow their children to spend some valuable time socialising with others.
“We hold the sessions in Little Prestfelde and as well as being a fun and social event for parents and children, we follow EYFS guidelines to help children with their communication and development.
“We purposely keep the numbers fairly low, so parents and children can relax and feel at home straight away.
“They are always really popular so we do ask people to let us know they are coming so we can reserve their place.”
Little Prestfelde is a self-contained part of the school, including a purpose-built nursery, covered outside play area, and classrooms for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
The morning stay and play sessions will take place on September 30, October 14, November 11 and December 2.
