We love something exciting and new and that’s why we’re so looking forward to Breaking Tradition’s latest production of The Demon Barbers XL at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn.

The folk and hip hop dance company, winners of Best Live Act at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, will be performing on March 14 at 8pm.

The event looks set to be something really different as it’s part gig and part dance show.

The Demon Barbers XL will bring some of the UK’s most exciting young Clog, Sword, Hip Hop & Break Dancers onto the concert stage.

The XL show features new material from their latest album ‘Disco at the Tavern,’ a collaboration with Grammy and Emmy award winners Donal Hodgson and Kipper Eldridge, best known for their work with Sting.

The Breaking Tradition Dance Company aims to raise the profile of traditional English dance, music and song through integration with modern genres.

Founded by Artistic Director Damien Barber, the company is widely recognised as the UK’s leading folk and hip hop Dance Company and has developed its own unique repertoire of folk and hip hop dance fusion.

Damien Barber has been a professional folk singer since leaving college in 1989.

Having spent 11 years as a solo artist,  he formed The Demon Barber Roadshow in 2000, gaining major recognition for a original and imaginative approach to traditional music, song and dance. He co-founded the award winning rapper sword team, Black Swan Rapper, and created the Folk & Hip Hop Dance Extravaganza, The Lock In, in 2012 and is now established as one of the most respected performers of folk music in the UK today.
