The Climbing Out Charity Ball and Awards will take place at Shrewsbury Town Football Club on June 24, and organisers say it will be a night to remember.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Climbing Out charity, which organises outward bound programmes for young people dealing with life-changing illness or injuries.

A series of awards will be presented at the event to youngsters who have been on the Climbing Out programmes and inspired others with their achievements. There will also be a three-course meal and dancing to a live band, Sonic Boom.

Tickets cost £35 and are available by emailing keldawood@climbingout.org.uk or visiting the website at www.climbingout.org.uk

Kelda Wood, of Climbing Out, said the event would be an inspiring and entertaining night.

“This is the second time we have held an awards evening and we wanted to make it a really special event, so we are pulling out all the stops to make it as memorable and fun as possible,” she said.

“We are very grateful to our main sponsors, Go Carz, for their support and we are encouraging other businesses to get involved by sponsoring awards if possible as well.

“The awards themselves are always emotional and inspirational, and categories include the Overcoming Adversity Award, Fundraiser of the Year and the Outstanding Achievement Award.

“We have had more than 200 young people from all over the UK on our courses in recent years, and families and friends have been nominating who they think deserve an award.

“We are hoping lots of people will come along because it will be a really fun night, with great entertainment and food, and a great opportunity to celebrate some very special young people who are turning their lives around.”

Cindy Wilday, marketing director at Go Carz, said the taxi firm was delighted to be supporting the event.

She said: “We have been fundraising for Climbing Out over the past year or so because we were so inspired by the amazing work the charity does for young people at an incredibly difficult point in their lives.

“We are very happy to be sponsoring the charity ball and awards night and are really looking forward to the night.”
