If the dramatic photos released ahead of The Jazz Dance Company’s latest show are anything to go by, Unexpected Tales will be an exciting and exhilarating performance.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary tour, the dance company will explore the dramatic shades of emotion conjured through fairy tales and folk stories at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn on June 21 at 7.30pm.
These are tales we have all grown up with, that have been passed down the generations, but The Jazz Dance Company will give the familiar a twist, telling the stories through jazz dance and musical theatre.
The company will present work by leading choreographers, including Ryan Francois, from Strictly Come Dancing and So You Think You Can Dance and Nikki Trow, from The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Little Mix.
The whole show is put together by the company’s Artistic Director Robbie O’Reilly.
The Jazz Dance Company was formed in 1996 by London Studio Centre, one of Britain’s foremost colleges for the performing arts to provide dancers with performing experience and the opportunity to work with established choreographers within the industry.
Graduates can be seen performing with West End shows and leading dance companies, as well as being hugely successful in the commercial dance sector and as choreographers and directors.
The tour operates as an opportunity for aspiring dancers and dance fans alike to witness some of the UK’s finest and rising choreographers’ work performed by talented young dancers.
Tickets for the show cost £13.50 or £8.50 for concessions and are available from the box office on 01743 281281 or, for more information, visit www.theatresevern.co.uk
