Nine years ago, our amazing PR Account Manager Becci joined Team J&PR. We can't quite believe it's been nearly a decade already!
Here's what brilliant Becci has to say...
It certainly doesn’t feel like nine-years ago I had just moved back to the UK from Canada with a baby in tow and was looking for a new job.
A quick chat with my good friend Rhea, whom I met when we were both journalists working at the Shropshire Star, and she soon invited me to join her fledgling business J&PR!
Jump forward nine years, and it has whizzed by, the business is going from strength-to-strength and I am so, so proud of everything Rhea and Kirsty have achieved. They are wonderful people to work for and I honestly think they must both have more than 24 hours in their days as they get so much done!
Flexibility is key!
J&PR has given me the chance to work flexibly as I move around and to stay working in public relations.
I began working for J&PR in January, 2013, while living in North Yorkshire and it fitted in well around time with my then one-year-old (now nearly 10!). When I also got a job as a press officer for Help for Heroes at the Phoenix House Recovery Centre in Catterick, I continued to work for J&PR from home for several clients and I enjoyed the variety.
We then moved to Shropshire for a short time and I loved attending the office at The Glebe Centre and have fond memories of making and drinking plenty of cups of tea. It wasn’t long before we moved again… this time to Saudi Arabia but it didn’t phase Rhea or Kirsty at all and they were happy for me to be their long-distance correspondent for the next 5 years!
I hugely appreciate the faith Rhea and Kirsty put in me to enable me to carry on working from abroad and I always felt part of the company….although I have missed most of the Christmas parties!
Looking ahead...
Now I am back in Shropshire, and planning to stay put! While it’s generally still been working from home thanks to the pandemic, I’ve really enjoyed being able to attend work meetings at The Wroxeter Hotel in Shrewsbury and the Best Western Valley Hotel in Ironbridge as well as this year’s fabulous Christmas party at Shrewsbury Abbey. We also have our new premises at Church Street in Wellington and it’s great to be back in an office environment, sharing the general chit-chat of working life with everyone.
J&PR is a flexible, friendly and fun company to work for - and hard-working. Every member of staff works their hardest to do their best for their clients - and always goes a step above to get huge amounts of coverage.
Working for J&PR means I’ve managed to stay doing a job I love as I have moved around - and it’s been a privilege to work for a company that not only looks after me but always shows its appreciation for its staff. I very much look forward to seeing what the next nine years brings for J&PR!
