Organisers of the Staffordshire County Show are calling on people to get their applications in quickly if they wish to be an exhibitor in the Country Pursuits area at this year’s event.
The Country Pursuits area forms a link between the main showground, in Weston Road, and the wooded display and picnic areas. The venue is an ideal location for those people involved in arts, crafts and outdoor pursuits.
This year’s show will be held on Wednesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 1. The event is always a massive crowd-puller and attracted 65,000 visitors last year.
Show Secretary Holly Hobson said the show offered a great opportunity to showcase products and services but said people needed to get their applications in pretty swiftly for consideration.
“The Country Pursuits area is home to the various country sports demonstrations that take place over the two days of the show. It is an ideal area for people to have stands where they sell or demonstrate their products with a countryside pursuit link,” she said.
“We are taking bookings for that area but there are a limited number so it’s important to get the application to us if you don’t want to miss out.”
Some of the attractions planned for this area over the two-day show include a sheep shearer, farriers, a coracle man, demonstrations on clogs, brooms and den building, Punch and Judy, a ferret roadshow and donkey rides.
There will also be falconry displays, fly casting demonstrations and competitions, horse shoeing and shoemaking competition, The Sheep Show and the Quack Pack sheepdog & duck display.
Organisers say the area will also host an animal experience hosted by South Staffordshire College, where youngsters can get close to the animals. There will also be the opportunity to see how dry stone walling is done.
Mrs Hobson added: “If anyone wants any further information about trade stands they can telephone (01785) 258060 or email holly@staffscountyshowground.co.uk
“Alternatively, people can visit the website www.staffscountyshowground.co.uk where they can view and download The Trade Stand Information Booklet with details.”
