One of Telford’s Southwater restaurants will undergo a huge revamp as part of a £400,000 takeover deal, its new owners have revealed.
Mimosa on Southwater has been bought by Sham Uddin and his wife Laura and will close to undergo a full re-design and re-open as a new restaurant – Four Corners World Buffet. The former owners of Mimosa sold the lease to the Uddin family to concentrate on their other branches.
Mr Uddin, who is a full time paramedic, and his wife Laura who is a fulltime payroll manager, who both live in Telford, said they wanted to set up their own restaurant on Southwater from the outset but had previously missed out on the unit.
They are now looking forward to internally re-designing and re-branding the restaurant and hope to include two function rooms for larger parties to dine together in private in the far end of the restaurant. They will be offering Chinese, Indian, Italian and Mexican cuisine and wanted to stress the restaurant was a totally new business.
All jobs have been secured as part of the buy-out.
Mr Uddin said his brother Amin Uddin who is a former general manager of the Handmade Burger Company and Jimmy Spices buffet restaurant chain will be managing the restaurant.
The re-design will include reducing the selection of food on offer as part of the self service buffet but will include four “live stations” where the chefs are cooking to order.
Mr Uddin also hopes to make it a “night out” venue where people spend the evening eating, drinking and socialising together in a relaxed, friendly environment and do not feel they have to rush off after finishing their food.
“We are very pleased to have acquired the restaurant which up until now has been Mimosa,” Mr Uddin said. “We will be closing the doors of Mimosa on August 1st and aim to re-open on August 26th for the bank holiday weekend. Our new restaurant will be Four Corners World Buffet and we are very much looking forward to becoming a successful business on Southwater.
“We are a very close family and it has always been my ambition to own my own restaurant. The focus will be to offer something different – so there will be the four cuisines under one roof with the focus being on fresh, top quality food and the customer service everyone deserves. We will be offering theme nights so special burger nights, British themed Sunday’s and other special menus.
“Although it is a buffet there will be a choice of ordering from the live stations so there will be an a la carte menu style option too as we know people don’t always want to be getting up and down from their table and would rather order and have it served to them fresh so they can enjoy the company of their friends and family.”
Mr Uddin said he was excited to overhaul the dessert area where the chefs would instead be offering fresh waffles, pancakes and other desserts cooked fresh in front of the customers.
Shaun Davies, leader of the ruling Labour group at Telford & Wrekin Council, which owns Southwater said: “We would like to welcome Mr and Mrs Uddin to Southwater and we are very much looking forward to the opening of Four Corners World Buffet.
“I am delighted that another independent eatery will be opening at the Southwater development.
“It is a very exciting time for the area due to the development of the neighbouring Southern Quarter. Last weekend’s successful Carnival of Giants event demonstrated what Telford and Southwater in particular has to offer as an estimated 12,000 people visited the town park and Southwater.
“We look forward to the doors re-opening very soon and wish the Uddin family every success in their new restaurant.”
