Charity
How do we support the charity sector?
Almost 200,000 charities are registered in the UK, helping those most in need.
We’ve learned a lot since J&PR began working with clients in the sector, as we’ve supported a wide range of charities and not-for-profit organisations to enhance their communications and raise their profiles. In turn, we’ve helped these charities to bring in donations, sponsorship and volunteers.
Many charities face challenges including income, increasing demand for services and ensuring their value is always understood by the public. Yet, there are many reasons to be optimistic!
There are increasing ways for charities to highlight their work and to get people on board and grow.
Charity clients
We work for charities in a number of ways.
We have covered maternity leave for Midlands Air Ambulance and covered a period when a role was vacant as Severn Hospice recruited.
We also assist with specific campaigns in the run-up to an event or activity, such as Telford Tree of Light or the Macmillan Coracle Race.
Then there are the charities we work with all year round, supporting them with all activities and both in-house and external communications.
A step further...
Beyond placing charities centre stage as their public relations team, we often go a step further and practice what we preach by getting fully involved in fundraising activities.
Walks up Snowdon? 50-mile charity bike rides? Volunteering in an orphan house in Malawi? Cleaning up the toilets after a flood? Painting signage for an upcoming event
We’ve done them all.
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, we support a number of organisations including Bayston Hill Beaver Scout Group and Telford Tree of Light, as well as sponsoring Wrekin Riders BMX Club for 8 years and supporting the club with its social media set up and PR campaigns.
In 2017, we won the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce award for our community engagement, before scooping the Chamber’s Business and School Engagement (1-5 employees) award in 2019 for our work with local schools.
We truly believe that charity begins at home or in the office; every year we hit the aisles with a Christmas Supermarket Sweep and donate what we sweep up to those in need, rather than send out Christmas gifts and corporate cards. We fill the trolley with food, toys and books before handing them all over to a range of charities in Shropshire and Telford.
Members of our team also sit on school governing boards and volunteer in their spare time - all putting us in a great position to give charities the best support possible.
